If it's not too bad yet, and cats are important to your life, most allergies can be pretty well controlled nowadays with either oral medication or shots. Shots suck, but if I had cats still and found out I was developing an allergy I might consider it.
I didn't have allergies until I hit my 30's. Cats were the first thing I noticed. Now it is Cats, cigarette smoke, dust and pollen. Cats being the worst.
I feel for you. Zyrtec (even generic) and Benadryl are my best friends these days. >.
